Welcome!

Thanks for downloading and installing Zen Open Source Software.

Remember, please be patient... this is an incomplete product and is still under active development.

All of the Zen Engine frameworks are complete and many of the plugins are stable and operational.

Although we have our Enterprise Service Bus networking, we do not have a completed game object replication system, but you can use a library such as  RakNet if you're making a client / server game. We don't have any example games that do this, but it shouldn't be terribly difficult to figure out.

If you're interested in helping us complete this project, contact Tony Richards (aka SgtFlame|Zen) via the  forums or on IRC (irc.indiezen.org port 16667 or 6667 #indiezen and #izdev)

Getting Started

The best place to get started is by browsing the example games.

CyberTD is a fairly functional Tower Defense game written using Lua, MicroPather?, CEGUI and Ogre. It is an excellent starting point for single player games and it makes for a pretty good example game client even though it's not 100% finished yet.

taBBall is barely functional but it is the best documented. Scripters and game designers may want to start with the script examples while C++ programmers might be more interested in the C++ source code? and the artists will be more interested in the resource examples?.

I also suggest you browse the documentation, including the Developer Resources and the Tutorials.

Did you notice the incomplete documentation? Yet another place where we could use some help if you're interested and have some spare time.
